Clifford Constructions was briefed to knock down and rebuild an existing KFC restaurant based in East Maitland NSW. The building was 20 years old & becoming operationally difficult. It was in a great location, with a strong customer base, but needed a massive facelift.
A key element of the brief was for the construction process to follow the strict guidelines of a new environmental initiative being rolled out globally by KFC.
The initiative known as LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is new to Australia with KFC Maitland being the first fast food restaurant in Australia to attempt to achieve this significant LEED rating. There are currently only eight other KFC stores around the globe that have achieved a LEED rating, with several more being submitted.
LEED rated restaurants use the latest in environmentally friendly building design, operations and technology.
